Rotel Announces New RSP-1576 Surround Sound Processor with Atmos and DTS:X

It's a little strange these days to see any new surround sound preamp released without room correction--especially an object-based preamp with 7.1.4-channel processing capabilities--but you purists in the audience who just can't abide the idea of auto-EQ or impulse reponse filtering will be happy to hear that Rotel is doing just that with its new RSP-1576. Room acoustics DIYers take heart, though: the RSP-1576 does come with a ten-band parametric EQ.

Pricing in the US will be $2,399, and the RSP-1576 is scheduled to ship this month to authorized Rotel dealers

More details from Rotel:

Rotel Electronics introduces the RSP-1576, a new surround sound processor incorporating the latest in audio and visual technology for an unprecedented home entertainment experience.

"Rotel is known for quality home audio and theater solutions at an accessible price point, and this new surround sound processor follows suit," said Richard Campbell, Chief Revenue Officer at Bowers & Wilkins, longtime Rotel distribution partner. "The RSP-1576 has been expertly designed and engineered for music and movie lovers alike to offer maximum performance and flexibility."

Leveraging over 55 years of industry experience, the new processor includes HDMI 2.0a 4K/UHD 60Hz HDR video, Audio Return Channel, aptX™ CD quality Bluetooth® wireless streaming and dual Texas Instruments DSPs supporting Dolby Atmos® and DTS:X.

The RSP-1576's multi-channel preamplifier is capable of decoding all popular audio formats. The 2 DSPs and array of 6 Wolfson 24/192k audiophile grade DACs support configuration options from 5.1 to a complete Dolby Atmos 7.1.4 home theater. There are 12 channels of RCA audio outputs for a fully customized installation.

The architecture of the RSP-1576 includes individual audio and video processing circuits with careful attention to signal routing, ensuring the highest in class performance. The sonic circuits were tuned by Rotel's expert acoustic engineering team to further ensure the processor accurately reproduces audio from the dynamics of blockbuster movies to the subtle nuances buried deep within an orchestral concerto. The array of source inputs include coaxial (3), optical (3), PC-USB (24/192k), iPod®, aptX Bluetooth, XLR Balanced, RCA Analog and Moving Magnet phono stage input for vinyl enthusiasts.

A full array of custom installation options include RS232 and IP control, IR remote receiver input, IR remote repeater outputs, 10 band parametric EQ for room equalization and software updates available via the front USB or over the Internet. The setup menu is available on both the HDMI output and on the integrated VFD display, providing easy access to all configuration options.

Supported by a full lineup of Rotel Class AB amplifiers ranging from 120 Watts to 350 Watts in 2 Channel and 5 Channel options, the RSP-1576 is sure to provide countless hours of entertainment.

The RSP-1576 is available August 2018 at a suggested retail price of €2,399, $2,399, £2,099.
