Safemo, an emerging name in the home security market, has launched its new solar-powered security system, the Safemo P1 set. The system emphasizes privacy and local data management, setting it apart from many of its cloud-dependent counterparts. The P1 set includes two 4K cameras powered by solar panels and a central hub that handles local processing and storage, ensuring that user data remains secure and private.
The Safemo P1 set comprises two battery-operated 4K cameras equipped with separate solar panels. These cameras capture video in ultra-high definition, with a resolution of 3840 x 2160 pixels. They feature a viewing range of up to 60 feet, 8x zoom, and color night vision, which enhances the clarity of images even in low-light conditions. The cameras are designed for outdoor use and built from weather-resistant materials, making them durable and reliable in various weather conditions.
Privacy is one of the core aspects of the Safemo P1 set. The system uses SafeRTC technology to establish a secure, encrypted communication channel between the user’s smartphone app and the hub. This should ensure that all interactions and data transfers are protected from potential breaches. The Safemo app is currently compatible with iOS devices, with Android support expected to be available soon.
The Safemo P1 is designed to minimize false alerts through its AI-powered features. The system can detect and recognize various objects, including people, vehicles, packages, and pets. This smart recognition capability should help reduce unnecessary notifications, allowing users to focus on the events that matter most. Additionally, users can set up tailored motion zones to monitor specific areas of their property more closely.
The solar panels included with the Safemo P1 set are designed for high efficiency. Safemo claims that these panels offer 28% higher energy conversion compared to competitors, allowing the system to operate for up to three days with just two to three hours of direct sunlight each day. This makes the system viable even in regions with less consistent sunlight.
Aaron Lee, VP of Product at Safemo, said: “At Safemo, our mission was clear: to redefine home security. Leaving behind conventional cloud-centric models that compromise privacy and autonomy, we’ve engineered a paradigm shift.
Our state-of-the-art system, with top-tier hardware, advanced AI capabilities, and strengthened by SafeRTC, offers each user a unique private security cloud. This both aligns with modern security standards and safeguards the sanctity of personal privacy.”
The Safemo P1 set is currently available for pre-order directly from the manufacturer and on Amazon for $399.99. It is marketed as a beta product, meaning that it may still be undergoing final refinements based on user feedback.
Safemo is committed to enhancing its security system with additional features in the future. Planned updates include the ability to filter familiar faces for more efficient monitoring and cross-camera event tracking, which will combine activities detected by linked cameras for comprehensive surveillance.
