Samsung has introduced the latest additions to its flagship soundbar lineup: the HW-Q990F and HW-QS700F. Announced during CES 2025, these soundbars are designed to cater to a wide range of home audio needs, combining innovative features, versatile designs, and advanced sound technologies.
“Our new soundbars combine exceptional audio quality with seamless convenience,” said Hun Lee, Executive Vice President of the Visual Display Business at Samsung Electronics. “With advanced AI technology in the HW-Q990F and the HW-QS700F’s innovative convertible design, these soundbars effortlessly adapt to any environment, delivering an immersive and personalized audio experience for every user.”
The HW-Q990F is the successor to the award-winning HW-Q990D and promises substantial upgrades. While maintaining an impressive 11.1.4 channel setup, this model introduces a compact, cube-shaped subwoofer that redefines low-frequency performance.
Equipped with dual active 8-inch drivers, the subwoofer delivers 300W of power with improved bass precision and reduced resonance. This smaller design makes it easier to integrate into modern living spaces without sacrificing performance.
Here are some highlights of the HW-Q990F:
The HW-Q990F’s updated design isn’t just about aesthetics. Its compact subwoofer and refined serrated finish allow it to blend seamlessly into any home. Moreover, its AI-driven sound optimization promises an immersive audio experience tailored to the content and environment.
Our Best of CES 2025 pick, the HW-QS700F introduces a convertible design that offers adaptability for different home configurations. This 3.1.2 channel soundbar can be positioned horizontally on a tabletop or vertically under a wall-mounted TV. Thanks to its built-in gyroscopic sensor, the soundbar automatically adjusts its audio output based on orientation, ensuring optimal sound clarity and balance.
This soundbar’s slim and modern profile complements minimalist aesthetics, making it a practical choice for those who value both style and functionality. Unlike the HW-Q990F, the QS700F doesn’t include rear speakers but comes with a wireless subwoofer, which shares the cube design of its flagship counterpart.
The QS700F is ideal for users who want high-quality audio without the need for extensive setup or additional components. Its adaptive design and versatile placement options make it an appealing choice for small to medium-sized spaces.
Both soundbars support immersive audio formats like Dolby Atmos and DTS:X, as well as Samsung’s new Eclipsa Audio 3D technology, which earned our Best of CES Award. These formats create a rich, three-dimensional sound experience, making movies, games, and music feel more lifelike than ever.
While Samsung hasn’t announced pricing for the HW-Q990F and HW-QS700F, both models are expected to launch in Spring 2025. The company has also hinted at plans to expand the lineup with mid-range and entry-level soundbars later in the year.
