Samsung put on a strong showing at CES 2022, one of the most audacious items on display is a new gaming monitor that goes by the moniker Odyssey ARK. This epic PC monitor features a 55-inch diagonal curved display with a 16 x 9 aspect ratio.

With a monitor this big, you need a special stand to provide pivot and tilt. This monitor goes a step further, it can rotate a full 90° to provide a vertical view on its 4K screen. Samsung has not yet released pricing, and only limited specifications are available. But we do know that it has a 1000R curve radius and that with the screen this big, the curve can actually be of some benefit to a gamer when sitting close to the screen.

As can be seen in the photographs supplied by Samsung, there is a wireless rotary controller that comes with this futuristic-looking display. We don't yet know what it controls, but it's not your everyday remote control, clearly.

So what you got here is a display that in another universe would be a TV, but thanks to the ingenious stand and the simple fact that curved screens make more sense for gaming monitors than they do for regular TVs, it is the latest, greatest, gaming display from Samsung, a company that appears increasingly committed to creating outrageous examples within this genre.

I won’t lie, I want one, I’d put it to good use right away, guaranteed. As soon as an opportunity presents itself for a hands-on with an Odyssey ARK, I’ll take it.
