The new HT-S400 soundbar from Sony is attractively priced with a $299.99 MSRP and designed to provide a simple yet high-quality sonic solution to adding surround sound to a TV, with a particular focus on easy integration with Sony’s Bravia TVs.
Don't depend on the built-in speakers of your TV, doesn't cost a lot to get a significant upgrade in capability by adding a Soundbar.
This Sony is a new 2.1 soundbar system. 2.1 may sound "simple" but you'd be surprised at what can be achieved: Thanks to S-Force Pro Front Surround virtual surround technology, you get an immersive soundfield from this sleek and minimalist soundbar. According to Sony, the use of X-Balanced Speaker Units as drivers—these drivers are rectangular, which increases the driver’s surface area which in turn reduces the amount of excursion needed to produce a given sound level. The HTS-400 also comes with a wireless subwoofer to fill out the bass response.
According to Sony, this Soundbar system has a grand total of 330 W of power on tap (including the subwoofer).
When used with a compatible Sony Bravia TV, Soundbar settings are included in the TVs click settings menu and is therefore adjustable with the TV's remote control. Plus, this Soundbar is designed for wireless connection in Bravia TVs that support Bluetooth A2DP.
“Delivering a powerful cinematic experience is a core goal when developing any of our home audio products, and the HT-S400 is no exception. This compact and easy-to-use soundbar includes many of Sony’s customer-loved audio features but at a more accessible price point.”
