Anker Innovations has introduced its newest addition to the Soundcore lineup with the launch of the Soundcore Boom 2 Plus, a powerful boombox that aims to deliver high-quality audio for party enthusiasts and casual listeners alike. The Boom 2 Plus, building on the foundation laid by its predecessor, the Motion Boom Plus, promises significant upgrades in both power and functionality.
The Soundcore Boom 2 Plus stands out with its impressive audio capabilities. The boombox features BassUp 2.0 technology, which allows it to deliver a maximum output of 140 watts.
This technology should ensure that the bass remains deep and powerful without any distortion, thanks to its custom-designed active crossover. This crossover effectively separates high and low-frequency signals, directing them to the appropriate woofers and tweeters to produce a clearer and more detailed sound.
Inside the Boom 2 Plus are two 4.5-inch woofers, each capable of outputting 50 watts, and two tweeters, each adding another 20 watts when the BassUp 2.0 mode is activated. To further enhance the bass output, the speaker includes two passive radiators, providing a rich and immersive audio experience, the company claims.
In addition to its audio prowess, the Soundcore Boom 2 Plus also offers a visually engaging experience with its RGB light show. The boombox comes with eight preset light effects that synchronize with the music, and users can customize these effects through the Soundcore app. For those who prefer a more subdued setup, the light show can be completely turned off.
The speaker’s design emphasizes portability and durability. Weighing in at 8.4 pounds (3.8 kilograms), it is equipped with an ergonomic handle and a detachable carrying strap, making it relatively easy to transport. Its IPX7 waterproof rating means it can withstand splashes and even float on water, making it an ideal companion for poolside parties and outdoor gatherings.
Another standout feature of the Boom 2 Plus is its substantial battery life. It boasts up to 20 hours of playback at 50% volume with the lights and BassUp 2.0 turned off. When operating at higher volumes with all features enabled, users can still expect around 12 hours of continuous playtime.
The speaker supports 30W fast charging, allowing it to be fully recharged in approximately three hours. Additionally, it can function as a power bank, with a USB-C port providing up to 10W of power to charge smartphones and other devices.
The Soundcore Boom 2 Plus offers extensive customization options through the Soundcore app, available for both Android and iOS devices. Users can choose from four EQ presets or create their own sound profiles using an eight-band equalizer. This level of control allows users to tailor the audio output to their specific preferences and listening environments.
For those looking to amplify their sound experience even further, the Boom 2 Plus supports PartyCast 2.0 technology. This feature enables users to connect up to 100 compatible Soundcore speakers, creating a synchronized audio and light show across multiple devices. For a more traditional stereo setup, two Boom 2 Plus speakers can be paired to separate the left and right audio channels.
The Soundcore Boom 2 Plus is available now for purchase starting at $249.99 (or £199.99/€199.99) from Amazon, Soundcore’s website, and other major retailers. It comes in three color options: Phantom Black, Adventure Green, and Explorer Blue.
