Andover Audio is back with a new addition to its all-in-one vinyl setup lineup: the SpinBase MAX 2. If you’ve seen (or heard) the original SpinBase, you already know the appeal—a turntable speaker system that saves space without sounding small. The MAX 2 keeps that same plug-and-play spirit, but adds more power, better sound, and some helpful new features—all in a unit that still fits right under your turntable. It's available now for $549 directly from Andover Audio or select retailers.

At a glance, the SpinBase MAX 2 looks like a familiar piece of gear. It's designed as a speaker base for your turntable, meaning the record player sits directly on top of it. Thanks to Andover’s IsoGroove tech, you don’t have to worry about annoying vibrations or feedback from the speakers interfering with your records. The system isolates those vibrations, so you get clean audio without needing extra accessories or special furniture.

The biggest upgrade in the MAX 2 is its speaker setup. This model packs six drivers in total—four 3.5-inch woofers and two ¾-inch silk-dome tweeters—all housed in a new acoustic suspension enclosure. That sealed design helps tighten up the bass and keeps distortion in check. Each set of drivers gets its own dedicated amp (a 100-watt Class-D setup), which means better control over the highs and lows, even when you crank the volume.

And just like the original SpinBase, the MAX 2 spreads sound around the room with its 270-degree panoramic audio field. So no matter where you’re sitting—on the couch, by the turntable, or across the room—you’re still getting a full, rich sound.

“For the MAX 2, we moved the SpinBase from a vented to a sealed enclosure, to offer a significant improvement in bass quality,” said Bob Hazelwood, Andover’s Director of Engineering and Product.

“Although the MAX 2 does play louder than the previous version, our goal was to also deliver more apparent detail and better tonality. The design also offers a more gradual low-frequency rolloff, with the benefit of richer, more extended bass. Overall, I’d say the SpinBase MAX 2 has a more refined sound, with greater neutrality and a more extended frequency range.”

The back panel of the MAX 2 offers a surprising number of inputs and outputs for something this compact. You’ve got the usual Phono and Line (Aux) inputs, plus an Optical Digital input for connecting your TV or digital media player. There’s also a USB port for playing music directly from a flash drive. Want even more low-end? You can hook up a subwoofer via the dedicated output. And for private listening, there’s a headphone jack built in as well.

Bluetooth has gotten an upgrade, too. The MAX 2 supports two-way Bluetooth, so you can stream music from your phone and send audio to Bluetooth headphones or wireless speakers. It uses separate chips to keep those connections stable, even if you switch inputs or move around your space.

For controls, you’ve got two options. The unit still has Andover’s familiar control knob up front, but you also get a remote that lets you change inputs, tweak volume, and adjust bass or treble from across the room. Whether you’re using this as a background music system or the centerpiece of your vinyl setup, it’s nice to have that flexibility.

Looks-wise, the MAX 2 keeps it simple and clean. It’s wrapped in a fabric finish and comes in either black or white, designed to match the rest of the Spin lineup. That includes the SpinDeck 2 turntable, the SpinSub subwoofer, and the SpinStand, which can hold up to 150 records. If you're building a full system, the MAX 2 is designed to slot right in.

Out of the box, you get the speaker, power adapter, a grounded RCA cable, and a quick start guide. So if you’ve already got a turntable, setup should take just a few minutes.
