SVS has been named the official subwoofer partner for Reel Sound Distribution, supporting Metaxas & Sins' newly unveiled Prinz electrostatic speaker. This partnership marks a significant development for Metaxas & Sins, a manufacturer renowned for blending advanced audio technology with artistic design. Known for their striking aesthetics, the company’s products have been described as “high-end audio sculptures.”
The collaboration pairs SVS’s subwoofers with Metaxas & Sins’ electrostatic technology, aiming to address the challenge of integrating panel speakers with subwoofers. Kostas Metaxas, the founder of Metaxas & Sins, has previously avoided subwoofer partnerships due to the difficulty of achieving seamless integration. However, the inclusion of SVS subwoofers, particularly the compact 3000 Micro model, introduces a custom-engineered solution for low-frequency performance.
“Kostas has not previously partnered his speakers with a subwoofer due to the inherent challenges of matching panel to sub. SVS subwoofer’s superior performance, now allows us to offer a pairing that will please even the most critical of audiophiles. The result is an electrostatic speaker system of unparalleled performance and beauty,” said Jeff Garshon, President of Reel Sound Distribution, the exclusive distributor of Metaxas & Sins products in the United States.
Metaxas & Sins’ Prinz electrostatic speakers are designed to deliver a highly immersive audio experience. As electrostatic models, they emphasize sonic clarity and transient response, making them suitable for high-resolution playback. The Prinz’s visual design reflects the company’s philosophy of creating functional art, with each unit handcrafted in the Netherlands. According to Reel Sound Distribution President Jeff Garshon, these speakers aim to replicate the feeling of attending a live concert.
The Prinz system, priced at $22,000, will feature a custom equalization profile developed by SVS to enhance compatibility with the 3000 Micro subwoofer. This pairing offers precise low-frequency reinforcement while maintaining the detailed characteristics of the electrostatic panels.
SVS’s subwoofers have been widely recognized for their performance and versatility. The 3000 Micro, chosen for the Prinz system, features a sealed cabinet design and digital signal processing (DSP) capabilities.
These attributes enable the subwoofer to deliver deep bass output while maintaining control and musicality. Its compact size also complements the Prinz’s minimalist aesthetic, making it a practical choice for integrating into high-end setups.
The DSP technology in SVS subwoofers allows for fine-tuning to match the acoustics of any environment. This adaptability ensures that the subwoofer can operate seamlessly alongside electrostatic speakers, which demand precise bass management to avoid overpowering their refined mid and high frequencies.
SVS President Gary Yacoubian said, “SVS subwoofers have earned the respect of hifi reviewers and audiophiles for their ability to render pinpoint accurate response at the lowest frequencies, while seamlessly blending with any kind of loudspeaker. Metaxas & Sins speakers are truly works of art sonically and visually, and this partnership further validates SVS as a premier audio brand.”
The Prinz system incorporates a modular architecture, reflecting Metaxas & Sins’ commitment to longevity and adaptability. According to Garshon, the design enables users to upgrade their system components over time, offering a cost-effective way to improve performance as technology evolves. This modularity builds upon the legacy of Metaxas’s Emperor electrostatic speakers, introduced nearly three decades ago, while incorporating advancements in CNC manufacturing and electronic components.
Garshon said, “Kostas Metaxas has been designing state-of-the-art audio equipment for over 40 years, and his latest electrostatic speaker series is an evolution and complete rethinking of his renowned Emperor electrostatic speakers originally introduced nearly 30 years ago. They benefit from the most current CNC manufacturing processes and higher-performance electronic components to create a more efficient and transparent result. The modular design allows customers to upgrade any model easily to the next level of performance.”
Consumers interested in experiencing the Prinz system with SVS subwoofers can contact Reel Sound Distribution for demonstrations or retail information. In addition to its performance features, the system is backed by SVS’s customer-focused policies, including a five-year warranty and a 45-day in-home trial.
