T+A Introduces Two New Multi-Source Players: MP 2000 R G3 and MP 2500 R G3

German audio specialist T+A has recently launched two new multi-source players in its R Series, introducing the MP 2000 R G3 and MP 2500 R G3. These new additions are designed to expand the high-performance capabilities of the R Series, offering audiophiles access to a wide range of digital sources. Despite being described as multi-source players, they are not complete systems in themselves. Instead, they require the use of a separate amplifier to function.

At the heart of these new devices is T+A's Audiophile Streaming Architecture (ASA) G3, which provides a sophisticated and flexible platform for digital music streaming. The ASA G3 is an upgrade over previous versions of the R Series players, specifically targeting users of the MP 2000 R MK II and MP 2500 R models, which can also be updated to the latest architecture.

This advanced streaming system enables the multi-source players to support popular streaming platforms such as Tidal Connect, Spotify Connect, and Apple AirPlay 2. These platforms allow for seamless playback from mobile devices directly to the T+A unit. Additionally, the ASA G3 supports high-resolution streaming services, including native DSD streaming, without conversion, which will surely be appreciated by audiophiles seeking the highest sound quality.

The integration of a new motherboard is another significant improvement in the G3 models. This hardware upgrade enhances signal processing, especially when playing physical media such as CDs and SACDs. The MP 2000 R G3 features a CD drive, while the more advanced MP 2500 R G3 is equipped with an SACD drive.

Both drives benefit from refined signal processing techniques that are now standard across T+A’s R Series. The players also display cover art via the MusicNavigator G3 app, thanks to support from the Gracenote music service.

For users still relying on traditional radio, T+Aa has also made strides in improving the reception of FM and DAB signals. The radio tuner integrated into both models is claimed to offer the finest reception ever achieved by the company, adding another versatile dimension to the units' capabilities.

T+A has continued to build on its established reputation for high-quality digital-to-analogue conversion with the MP 2000 R G3 and MP 2500 R G3. Both units are equipped with T+A’s True1-Bit DSD and Quadruple PCM digital-to-analogue converters, which are designed to handle a variety of digital file formats and bitrates, including PMC files up to 24-bit/384kHz and DSD256.

One of the key features that sets these devices apart is T+A’s Path Separation Technology. This system uses dedicated converters for each format, ensuring that the optimal signal processing method is applied to every type of audio input. This allows the multi-source players to deliver superior sound quality across a wide range of formats, whether the user is playing high-resolution audio files or streaming compressed formats.

The MP 2000 R G3 and MP 2500 R G3 are available in two finishes: anodised silver and anodised black, providing aesthetic flexibility to suit various home audio setups. In terms of pricing, the MP 2000 R G3 is offered at a suggested retail price of £6,450 / $10,575, while the more feature-rich MP 2500 R G3 is priced at £9,750 / $14,990.

For those with earlier R Series models, T+A offers an upgrade service to retrofit the ASA G3 streaming architecture into the older MP 2000 R MK II and MP 2500 R models. This upgrade includes both new hardware components and device-specific control software, ensuring that even older devices can benefit from the latest advances in T+A’s technology.
