The LG 2024 OLED TVs have been unveiled ahead of this year's CES, and it appears the company is shifting its focus towards artificial intelligence (AI) and smaller, iterative improvements compared to the significant technical upgrades seen in the previous year's models.
The LG 2024 OLED TVs include the M4, G4, C4, and B4, each featuring various enhancements in picture quality, sound, and gaming capabilities.
One of the key highlights of the LG 2024 OLED TVs is the integration of AI processing. LG's new Alpha 11 AI Processor, exclusive to the M4 and G4 models, promises a 70% improvement in graphic performance and a 30% faster processing speed compared to the previous generation.
This advanced chipset utilizes pixel-level image analysis to sharpen objects and backgrounds, resulting in clearer and more vibrant visuals. It also adapts color tones to match the filmmaker's intent and offers improved three-dimensional rendering through Dynamic Tone Mapping Pro.
The OLED M4 and OLED G4 series both benefit from LG's Micro Lens Array technology, providing significantly increased brightness, making them 70% brighter than traditional OLEDs.
The M4 series introduces a new 65-inch model alongside existing 77, 83, and 97-inch options, while the G4 series comes in various sizes ranging from 55 to 97 inches. The G4 series, known for its wall-mountable design, now offers four HDMI 2.1 ports capable of 4K/144Hz gaming, catering to avid gamers' needs.
While the M4 and G4 models receive the Alpha 11 AI Processor, the Classic OLED C4 series uses an upgraded Alpha 9 processor, providing many AI-driven enhancements but missing some features found in the flagship models. Nevertheless, the C4 series supports a 144Hz refresh rate and four HDMI 2.1 ports across various sizes, from 42 to 83 inches.
The Basic OLED B4 series introduces an exciting gaming upgrade with four HDMI 2.1 ports, making it suitable for gaming enthusiasts. Available in sizes ranging from 48 to 77 inches, the B4 series features the Alpha 8 AI Processor, offering AI-driven improvements in picture and sound quality.
LG also emphasizes wireless technology with the return of its Zero Connect Box, allowing for clutter-free installations and offering 4K resolution at up to 144Hz refresh rates. LG's webOS operating system will receive updates for the next five years, ensuring a consistent user experience across models dating back to 2022.
While the pricing details for the LG 2024 OLED TVs are yet to be disclosed, more details are expected to emerge at CES 2024 in Las Vegas, where we will get a closer look at these exciting TV offerings.
