Toshiba Regza DBR-M190 Blu-ray Player Has A 5TB Hard Drive

Toshiba has come up with a rather impressive device in the Toshiba Regza Blu-ray DBR-M190, which also serves as a media server and DVR. But there is also some bad news attached to the device.

The company states that the Regza DBR-M190 can be set to simultaneously record up to six digital channels for 15 days. The Blu-ray player can also serve as a media server, making it part of Toshiba's Regza home connected system. The DBR-M190 can stream media to other devices throughout the house, allowing users to pause content and continue watching it on another device.

However, the distribution of this product appears to be limited. Masaaki Osumi, head of Toshiba's digital products division, stated, "It's a bit hard to imagine this Regza server as being sold globally. But on a regional basis, there is a natural need for TVs that have server functionality."

So hopefully some of the DBR-M190's functionality ends up in HDTVs sold in the United States.

The Toshiba Regza Blu-ray DBR-M190 will hit the Japanese market in 2011 with a price of 200,000 yen or about $2,600.
