This agreement will cover the United States as well as Europe. There will also be an interesting new feature available to Toshiba through the platform. Toshiba will now be able to take advantage of interactive advertising capabilities.
"Rovi has unique solutions and essential intellectual property that are critical in bringing a simplified entertainment experience to consumers looking to access digital content of all types from a variety of sources," said Taro Hiyama, chief marketing executive of Toshiba's digital products and services division.
Toshiba has already been including Rovi products within their own, specifically the Rovi RoxioNow application and Rovi's DivX video playback. Given that, this new deal seems like a natural progression of the relationship between Rovi and Toshiba.
