French hi-fi speaker manufacturer Triangle has introduced its latest product, the Triangle Capella active connected speakers, which feature WiSA wireless technology. This new system promises to blend classic design with cutting-edge audio technology, offering a versatile and sophisticated listening experience.
The Triangle Capella system is a two-way, bass reflex design. Each speaker features a horn-loaded tweeter with a 25mm magnesium alloy dome and a 6.5-inch cellulose pulp cone woofer. These drivers are powered by dedicated 50W Class-D amplification channels, bringing the total system power to 200W (100W per speaker). The cabinets are constructed from high-density laminate with curved edges, mounted on an aluminum base for enhanced airflow and stability.
The speakers are available in four finishes: Black Star, Astral Blue, Space White, and Brown Nebula. Each finish is carefully selected to offer a luxurious appearance, with nuanced color contrasts and refined accents of Champagne-finish anodized aluminum.
One of the main features of the Capella system is its centralized Stereo Hub, which handles both wired and wireless connections. The hub uses WiSA technology to transmit uncompressed 24-bit/96kHz audio wirelessly to the speakers, which only require power. This setup allows for a cleaner design and easier placement within a room.
The hub offers a range of inputs and outputs, including HDMI ARC, USB Type B, coaxial, and three optical inputs, along with a single RCA stereo input. It supports various streaming options such as Bluetooth (classic 4.2), Wi-Fi, AirPlay, Chromecast, UPnP/DLNA, and is Roon Ready. This wide array of connectivity options makes the Capella system suitable for music streaming, home theater setups, and even gaming.
Triangle has integrated a digital signal processor (DSP) within the Capella speakers to monitor driver behavior and optimize performance. The company says the DSP works alongside a digitally controlled crossover to ensure a perfectly linear frequency response, which translates to deeper, better-controlled bass and a more balanced soundstage.
The Capella system also includes a room calibration feature accessible via the Triangle Capella app. Users can perform automatic calibration using their smartphone’s microphone or an optional Zen microphone for more accurate measurements.
The app adjusts the system’s output based on the room’s acoustics and speaker placement, which should enhance the listening experience. Additionally, the app allows for manual sound customization by controlling the response curve and tweaking the EQ settings.
Triangle offers optional accessories to complement the Capella system, including dedicated S05 speaker stands designed to fit the speakers securely and position them at the optimal listening height. The stands are available in finishes that match the speakers.
For vinyl enthusiasts, Triangle has partnered with Pro-Ject to offer the Lunar 3 turntable, featuring a built-in phono preamplifier for direct connection to the Stereo Hub. The turntable is constructed with premium materials, including a wooden structure, steel platter, carbon tonearm, and Ortofon 2M Red cartridge, ensuring a balanced and high-quality analog playback.
Priced at €2499 (approximately $2700 USD), the Triangle Capella system is positioned competitively within the high-end wireless speaker market. It offers a compelling alternative to established models such as the KEF LS50 Wireless II. By combining high-quality sound, advanced technology, and elegant design, the Capella system aims to attract discerning audiophiles and home audio enthusiasts.
