Two New Apple AirPods Models Could Arrive This Fall

Apple prepares for its largest AirPods launch to date, with two new Apple AirPods models promising major upgrades and enhanced features.

Two New Apple AirPods Models Could Arrive This Fall

Tech enthusiasts and Apple aficionados have been abuzz with excitement as reports emerge suggesting that the tech giant is gearing up for its "biggest AirPods launch ever." Speculations indicate that Apple will soon introduce two new iterations of its popular Apple AirPods, marking a significant upgrade over the existing lineup.

According to sources cited by Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, renowned for his insights into Apple's plans, the Cupertino-based company is set to debut two new Apple AirPods models later this year.

These models are expected to replace the current second and third generations of AirPods, with production reportedly slated to commence in May. If these reports hold true, consumers can anticipate a launch window in September or October, aligning with Apple's traditional release schedule.

The upcoming Apple AirPods are purportedly codenamed B768(E) and B768(M), with the former designated as "entry-level" and the latter as "mid-tier." Both models are said to undergo significant redesigns aimed at enhancing comfort and fit for users. Additionally, they will feature USB-C charging cases, a departure from the Lightning connector prevalent in previous iterations.

The differentiating factor between the two models lies in their features and price points. While both are expected to offer improved sound quality and design refinements, the mid-tier variant (B768(M)) is rumored to incorporate Active Noise Cancellation (ANC). This addition would mark a notable advancement for non-Pro AirPods, bridging the gap between the standard AirPods and the premium AirPods Pro lineup.

Moreover, reports suggest that Apple is working on several enhancements to accompany the hardware upgrades. iOS 18 is anticipated to introduce a slew of improvements tailored for AirPods users.

Among these enhancements is a "hearing aid mode" slated for AirPods Pro 2, catering to individuals with impaired hearing. Additionally, Apple is said to be developing a hearing test feature, potentially offering personalized audio experiences.

Despite the excitement surrounding the impending AirPods launch, there's notable absence: the rumored AirPods Max 2. Gurman's insights shed no light on the fate of the high-end over-ear headphones, leaving enthusiasts curious about Apple's plans for this product category.

Looking ahead, Apple's roadmap for its audio accessory lineup appears robust. While the focus is currently on the imminent release of the fourth-generation AirPods, speculation persists about future iterations. Gurman's sources suggest that AirPods Pro 3 could debut in the coming years, with features like integrated cameras for mixed reality applications and enhanced accessibility.

As anticipation builds for Apple's forthcoming AirPods release, consumers may find themselves weighing their options carefully. While existing AirPods models may see price reductions, the allure of the latest upgrades could sway many to wait for the newest offerings from Apple's audio arsenal.

At the moment, the Apple AirPods Pro 2nd Gen are available at Amazon at the price of $189.00, a 24% discount, while AirPods 2nd Gen are also available for purchase at Amazon, priced at $99.00, with a discount of 23%.
