This might be your sign to get that turntable you've been thinking about... assuming they're not sold out. The platters they play are certainly hot. The Recording Industry Association of America's 2020 mid-year report says that vinyl sales exceeded CD sales the first half of the year for the first time since the 1980s. Although vinyl accounted for only 4% of total recorded music revenue, that was partly due to COVID-19-related record store closures and amounted to 62% of total physical music revenues at $232 million. It seems as though the vinyl revival is in full swing.
