VIZIO has announced the addition of the FandangoNOW streaming service (formerly MGo) to its SmartCast platform. FandangoNOW is a pay-per-use service where you can buy/rent movies and individual TV episodes. VIZIO TV owners can now browse and order FandangoNOW content directly through the VIZIO SmartCast app on their phone or tablet, to be cast to their big screen. FandangoNOW includes 4K and HDR content, so this addition adds to the company’s suite of 4K streaming services that also includes VUDU, Netflix, and Amazon Video.
VIZIO, Inc. has announced the integration of FandangoNOW into the VIZIO SmartCast app. The premium on-demand video service joins other VIZIO SmartCast-enabled apps like VUDU, Hulu and Google Play Movies & TV, allowing consumers to easily search for content they want to watch and then simply tap to stream from their mobile device to a VIZIO SmartCast display. Consumers can control their VIZIO SmartCast displays from any room in the home by using the VIZIO SmartCast app on the VIZIO SmartCast Tablet Remote or a personal iOS or Android mobile device.
The newly enhanced VIZIO SmartCast app provides users with a faster all-around content aggregation experience. Rather than jumping between apps, the VIZIO SmartCast app allows users to search and browse content by scouring genres across multiple apps at once and then select the app or source of their choice to play the content on the at-home big screen. The user experience is further enhanced with accessibility to new release movies and next-day TV shows to rent or buy from FandangoNOW with no required subscription. Consumers can easily browse content options from FandangoNOW alongside content catalogs from other popular apps, making for a quicker, more seamless search and discovery experience1.
“We’re thrilled to bring FandangoNOW to the fingertips of our VIZIO SmartCast users,” said Matt McRae, Chief Technology Officer, VIZIO. “The VIZIO SmartCast app makes it easier than ever for consumers to control their devices, giving them the ability to search and browse multiple content catalogs at one time before tapping to select content and cast to the display. By integrating FandangoNOW into the VIZIO SmartCast app, we’re giving consumers another way to further enhance their entertainment experience.”
FandangoNOW features curated lists from its library of more than 40,000 movies and TV shows, including an extensive catalog of 4K and HDR titles, showcasing entertainment options for every occasion. With an installed base of more than 100 million devices, including Smart TVs, over-the-top (OTT) streaming players, iOS and Android mobile phones and tablets, and online, consumers can watch movies and TV shows anytime, anywhere.
“We’re excited to offer FandangoNOW and our extensive library of new release movies and next-day TV shows on the cutting-edge VIZIO SmartCast app,” said Adam Rockmore, Chief Marketing Officer, FandangoNOW. “We want to offer consumers easy access to the best entertainment options available for streaming, and the VIZIO SmartCast app greatly streamlines that experience.”
The VIZIO SmartCast app simplifies the entire whole-home entertainment experience for consumers, allowing them to transform their iOS or Android mobile devices into a powerful touchscreen remote. The app makes it incredibly convenient for consumers to search, discover, browse and cast their favorite movies, shows, songs and more to their VIZIO SmartCast P-Series or M-Series Ultra HD HDR Home Theater Displays or E-Series Home Theater Displays.
With Chromecast built-in, every VIZIO SmartCast display, sound bar and speaker allows consumers to easily access thousands of mobile apps they already know and love. By simply tapping the Cast button, content goes from a user’s mobile screen to any VIZIO SmartCast or Cast-enabled device on their home WiFi network. And with casting over Wi-Fi, consumers can still multi-task on their tablet remote or their own mobile device without interrupting the Cast session.
