VIZIO Licenses Digital TV Patent Portfolio to ON Corporation

In the midst of a legal dispute, ON Corporation and HDTV television manufacturer Vizio have found a way to reach and agreement and end the legal dispute, allowing both companies to go about their business.

Vizio_logo_black_on_white.jpgVIZIO announced that ON Corporation, which sells digital televisions in the United States under the RCA brand, has become a licensee under VIZIO's QAM patent portfolio. VIZIO owns a substantial worldwide patent portfolio directed to digital television technology. The parties have not disclosed financial terms of the agreement under which ON Corp has agreed to make royalty payments to VIZIO for sales of licensed products.

"We are pleased with the result of our patent licensing efforts. It further demonstrates the technical strength and value of VIZIO's patent portfolio," said Rob Brinkman, VIZIO Chief Administrative Officer.

The signing of the QAM License with ON Corporation also concludes actions brought against On Corp by VIZIO in the International Trade Commission and in U.S. District Court. "Having successfully resolved the disputes, we shall continue to aggressively protect our rights and actively expand VIZIO's licensing program," added Mr. Brinkman.
