WiiM Expands into Custom Installations with New Streamer and Amplifier

WiiM has unveiled two new products targeting the custom install market, continuing its expansion beyond its well-known consumer streaming devices. The newly introduced WiiM CI MOD A80 streaming amplifier and WiiM CI MOD S standalone streamer are designed to meet the specific needs of home and commercial audio systems that are tailored for high-performance, user-friendly integration.

At the heart of the WiiM CI MOD A80 is a Texas Instruments (TI) TPA3255 Class-D amplifier, delivering 60 watts per channel at 8 ohms. This power setup aims to provide robust sound output for a variety of home or commercial environments, ensuring a versatile and capable audio solution for custom installations. Supporting the amplification capabilities is an ESS ES9018K2M SABRE Reference DAC, which processes high-resolution audio files, ensuring clean and detailed sound reproduction.

The connectivity options on the MOD A80 are extensive, offering both wired and wireless solutions. The device supports Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3, providing the latest in wireless technology for a seamless streaming experience. On the wired front, it includes RCA, optical, and HDMI ARC inputs, along with a subwoofer output, which allows integration into a variety of setups, from traditional stereo systems to more complex home theater environments.

Additionally, the MOD A80 supports audio up to 24-bit/192kHz, ensuring high-resolution audio is maintained throughout the system. Users also benefit from built-in room correction features and a range of EQ settings tailored to different music genres. If further customization is needed, a 10-band graphic equalizer is available for fine-tuning the sound to the user’s preference.

The WiiM CI MOD S is a high-resolution audio streamer based on the company’s existing WiiM Pro Plus model. It features an AKM AK4493SEQ DAC, a well-regarded component in the world of high-fidelity audio. Like the MOD A80, the MOD S supports 24-bit/192kHz audio, delivering exceptional sound quality in both home and commercial installations.

Connectivity options on the MOD S include RCA line input, SPDIF optical input, RCA line output, and both optical and coaxial digital outputs, making it adaptable to a wide range of setups. For wireless integration, the device supports dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.1, and Ethernet, ensuring it can fit seamlessly into most network configurations. Whether users want to stream music via Bluetooth or integrate the device into a wired system, the MOD S offers flexibility.

Like the MOD A80, the MOD S includes built-in room correction, 24 EQ presets, and a 10-band graphic equalizer for those seeking to customize their sound further.

Both the MOD A80 and MOD S are designed with custom installers in mind. These devices are compatible with a range of control platforms that are commonly used in custom installations, including Control 4, RTI, URC, and Josh.ai. This makes them highly integrable into existing smart home ecosystems, providing seamless operation alongside other devices such as lighting systems, security systems, and more.

For audiophiles and home automation enthusiasts, this means that the WiiM CI products can be managed alongside other smart devices, ensuring convenience and cohesion in the user experience. Additionally, both products are rack-mountable, with racks sold separately, further emphasizing their focus on the custom install market.

One of the main features of these new products is their support for a wide variety of streaming services. Users can access popular platforms such as Tidal, Spotify, Amazon Music, and Qobuz, among others. Additionally, these devices are compatible with Roon, a high-resolution streaming service favored by audiophiles.

While pricing details for these new products have yet to be announced, WiiM has indicated that the first batch is expected to ship by October 2024.
