Master & Dynamic has unveiled a refreshed version of its ME05 wired earphones, nearly a decade after the original model debuted. With updates tailored to modern audio needs, the 2024 ME05 retains its premium brass design while introducing key refinements in acoustics, device compatibility, and user convenience.
The ME05's hallmark brass construction has been retained, offering durability and a distinct acoustic profile. Precision machining ensures a sleek aesthetic, complemented by hand-polished accents, laser-etched details, and tactile controls for easy operation. The earphones aim to deliver both style and substance, maintaining their position as a premium option in the wired earphone market.
Acoustically, the new ME05 incorporates custom 8mm bio-cellulose drivers, replacing the titanium drivers used in the 2015 model. These high-excursion drivers promise an updated dynamic sound, with the company highlighting their ability to produce expansive audio quality.

In an era where headphone jacks are increasingly rare, Master & Dynamic has equipped the ME05 with a USB-C adapter featuring a high-resolution Digital-to-Analog Converter (DAC).
The DAC supports audio playback up to 32-bit / 384kHz, catering to listeners who value high-resolution sound. The adapter ensures compatibility with a wide range of contemporary devices, including smartphones and tablets without traditional 3.5mm audio jacks.
The earphones retain their standard 3.5mm connector, providing flexibility for use with devices that still feature the legacy port. By including both options, the ME05 offers versatility for a broad user base.
Master & Dynamic has addressed feedback from earlier models by expanding the selection of ear tips. The 2024 ME05 ships with two sizes of foam ear tips and five sizes of silicone tips, aiming to provide a comfortable and secure fit for a diverse range of users. This improved fit should also contribute to better noise isolation and overall listening experience.
The microphone system has also been upgraded, featuring enhancements to clarity and wind reduction. These updates make the earphones more suitable for calls in various environments, ensuring clearer communication.

The new ME05 earphones are available starting December 5, with a price point of $199 in the U.S., £169 in the U.K., and €219 in Europe. Initially, the Gold/Black colorway is available for purchase, while Gunmetal/Black, Palladium/Black, and Palladium/White options are open for preorders. The earphones will also be sold on Amazon later in the season.
