Zeitgeist, the German audio brand known for blending artistry with function, has launched its latest in-ear headphone line, The Trees Collection. Crafted from responsibly sourced wood, the collection features four unique models: Sequoia, Zebrano, Redheart, and Olive. Each pair uses a specific type of wood, making every set distinct in appearance due to natural variations in grain and color.
Zeitgeist’s Trees Collection adds to its lineup of earphones made from unconventional materials, including its Artisan and Whisky collections. The Trees Collection takes inspiration from a diverse range of trees sourced worldwide.
The Sequoia model is fashioned from California’s giant redwoods, known for their towering heights and straight grain patterns, lending a warm red hue to the earphone shells. The Zebrano model incorporates wood from Central Africa, distinguished by its zebra-like brown and black streaks, which require precision craftsmanship due to the wood’s challenging properties.
The Mediterranean Olive model uses wood from olive trees, showcasing a golden hue with wavy grain patterns that reflect the tree’s iconic status in southern Europe. Lastly, the Redheart model, sourced from Central and South America, features vibrant red and pink tones that intensify with age. Together, these woods provide a striking aesthetic while emphasizing sustainability.
“We're breathing new musical life into trees that have come to a natural end," says Thomas Halbgewachs, founder of Zeitgeist Germany. "These trees have seen hundreds, even thousands of years of history: our artisans treat them with the reverence they deserve and ensure their beauty lives on. No pair of Trees earphones is identical – each has its own organic patterns of growth and grain – which just adds to their wonder.”
Handcrafted in Zeitgeist's workshop near Heidelberg, Germany, each earphone is designed to be both functional and visually appealing. Beyond their unique external characteristics, the Trees Collection offers a consistent internal configuration across all models. Each pair utilizes a proprietary tuned, two-way balanced armature driver system, delivering a frequency range of 15Hz to 35kHz and an impedance of 17 ohms.
To ensure a comfortable fit, Zeitgeist reports having studied thousands of ear impressions to design two size options: Regular and Small. Each earphone package includes five Final Type E ear tips in various sizes (XS to XL), allowing users to customize their fit further. A 1.2-meter silver-plated copper cable, available with either 3.5mm or 4.4mm termination, comes as standard.
The Trees Collection follows Zeitgeist’s preference for wired earphones, which the company emphasizes for their uncompressed audio quality. Without the need for batteries or wireless circuitry, the earphones are lighter and more ergonomic, enhancing long-term comfort during listening sessions.
The Sequoia and Zebrano models are priced at £899 (approximately $1,100), while the Redheart and Olive editions come in at £799 (around $1,000). All models are available now directly from Zeitgeist’s website. Buyers will also receive a five-year warranty upon registration.
