Yamaha AV Controller App 2.0 Streams Music from Mobile Devices to Receivers

Yamaha has improved upon the company's AV Controller App with a second version, which adds a new feature that is allows users to stream music directly from the device to the receiver.

Yamaha_Android_App.jpgYamaha Electronics Corporation just introduced its AV Controller App 2.0 for Android and iOS devices that can stream music from the popular portable devices to home entertainment systems equipped with select Yamaha network AV receivers. The new app also offers multi-zone control that enables users to distribute music to multiple rooms and operate a variety of system functions (power, source selection, zones, DSP, volume, mute, etc.) from anywhere in the home. The free application is now available for download from the Android Marketplace and Apple App Store.

No firmware updates are required for Yamaha network AV receivers that are DLNA 1.5 compatible to support the AV Controller 2.0 App.

The suite of AV receiver control functions available through this app includes the ability to power on and change source inputs for all available zones, and access content from the network, USB devices, FM/AM tuner or any other internally available source. In addition, DSP and SCENE modes can be engaged, and basic functions such as system volume and muting can be adjusted.

To use the AV Controller App 2.0, consumers will need a device with AndroidOS 2.1 or iOS 4.2 or higher, a wireless Local Area Network (LAN) and a compatible Yamaha Network receiver residing within the same LAN. Upon downloading the app, users can run a demo to gain a full understanding of its many features.
