The LG Signature OLED T, a groundbreaking 77-inch transparent OLED television, has officially hit the U.S. market with a price tag of $60,000. Initially showcased at CES 2024, the OLED T combines cutting-edge technology with a fresh take on how screens fit into our spaces.

The Signature OLED T’s defining feature is its transparent display, which can switch between modes to either showcase content or blend into its surroundings. In its transparent mode, the screen allows users to view the space behind the TV, creating a floating effect for visuals. This design element makes it ideal for settings where preserving natural light or an open aesthetic is crucial.

For traditional TV viewing, a motorized opaque backing slides up behind the screen, enabling deep black levels and vivid visuals. This dual-mode design caters to different use cases, from a futuristic digital canvas to a conventional entertainment centerpiece.

LG has equipped the OLED T with its proprietary α11 AI processor, which enhances picture and sound quality. Supporting 4K resolution at a 120Hz refresh rate, the TV is compatible with NVIDIA G-SYNC and AMD FreeSync Premium, offering a seamless gaming experience. The combination of advanced refresh rates and wireless video transmission via LG’s Zero Connect Box ensures a smooth and visually immersive environment.

The Zero Connect Box allows the TV to operate without direct video or audio cables, contributing to a clean setup. While power cables are still required, the wireless connection eliminates the need for HDMI or other media cables running directly to the display.

The LG Signature OLED T includes several unique features tailored for a variety of applications. The T-Objet mode transforms the screen into a transparent Always-On-Display, showcasing artwork, photos, or videos in stunning clarity.

For more functional applications, the T-Bar mode provides a ticker-style display along the bottom edge, delivering updates on weather, sports, or IoT device statuses without obstructing the transparent screen’s view.

This multifunctionality makes the OLED T not only an entertainment device but also a centerpiece for home or office spaces that value both technology and design.

While the transparent OLED technology is undeniably eye-catching, it does come with a few trade-offs. For starters, the see-through mode doesn’t deliver the deep blacks you’d expect from a high-end OLED. To fix that, there’s an opaque backing that slides into place, giving you the rich contrast needed for traditional viewing.

Then there’s the price—$60,000. That makes it the most expensive 77-inch TV out there, far above other OLED options. This makes the OLED T less about everyday entertainment and more about a luxury experience for those who value cutting-edge design and innovation over affordability.

The LG Signature OLED T is available for preorder in the U.S. through LG.com, Best Buy, and other select retailers. The company has also announced plans to expand availability to additional markets in the future.
