Danish audio company Jabra has introduced the Elite 8 Active Gen 2 and Elite 10 Gen 2 wireless earbuds, incorporating significant updates based on user feedback. These new upgraded versions bring various improvements, including the world's first LE Audio smart case and improved spatial sound, noise cancellation, and call performance.

The main feature of the new Jabra earbuds is the LE Audio smart case, which functions as a wireless transmitter. The case can connect to various audio sources via dual USB-C and 3.5mm jack inputs, streaming audio to the earbuds through Bluetooth LE Audio. This functionality is particularly useful in scenarios where traditional Bluetooth connections are not available, such as on airplanes or gym treadmills.

The smart case's integrated chip allows for lower latency than standard Bluetooth connections, enhancing audio and video synchronization. The included 2-in-1 cable supports charging, digital audio via USB-C, and analog audio via a USB-C to 3.5mm adapter. This versatility should ensure that users can enjoy their audio from almost any source with minimal hassle.

Jabra has made substantial improvements in the audio performance of both the Elite 8 Active Gen 2 and Elite 10 Gen 2. The spatial sound feature, powered by Dolby Audio, has been refined to offer a more immersive listening experience. The Elite 10 Gen 2 also supports Dolby Atmos and Dolby Head Tracking, providing enhanced spatial audio that is particularly beneficial for movie and music enthusiasts.

Blind tests conducted by Jabra indicate that 95% of respondents preferred the spatial sound tuning of the new generation earbuds over their predecessors. This suggests that the improvements are not just theoretical but also appreciable in real-world use.

The new earbuds also feature improved Active Noise Cancellation (ANC). Jabra claims that the ANC on the new models can block out twice as much unwanted noise compared to the first generation. This is achieved through enhanced adaptive ANC algorithms, which adjust noise cancellation levels based on the surrounding environment.

Call quality has also seen a significant upgrade. The six microphones integrated into the earbuds, combined with advanced AI algorithms, help distinguish between background noise and the user's voice. This should ensure clearer calls, even in noisy environments. Noise-reduction algorithms are automatically activated based on activity or location, further enhancing call clarity.

While the core design of the earbuds remains similar to their predecessors, some adjustments have been made to improve fit and comfort. The Elite 8 Active Gen 2, designed for sports and fitness enthusiasts, features a more secure fit with grippy in-ear materials. These earbuds also boast an impressive IP68 rating for water and dust resistance, making them highly durable in harsh conditions.

On the other hand, the Elite 10 Gen 2 offers a more open design aimed at long-term comfort. Although they have a slightly lower IP57 rating, they still provide adequate protection against water and dust for everyday use.

The battery life of the new models remains consistent with the previous generation. The Elite 8 Active Gen 2 offers up to 32 hours of playtime with the case, while the Elite 10 Gen 2 provides up to 27 hours. Both models support Bluetooth Multipoint for connecting to multiple devices simultaneously, along with Swift Pair for Windows 11, Google Fast Pair, and Spotify Tap.

In terms of pricing, the Elite 8 Active Gen 2 is available for $229.99 / £229.99 / €229.99, while the Elite 10 Gen 2 is priced at $279.99 / £259.99 / €279.99. These prices are approximately $30 higher than their predecessors, and both models will be available on Amazon in the upcoming days.
